Corpus Christi

The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

Once again we have a great feast to celebrate and it is the feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, which we have traditionally and commonly called “Corpus Christi”, which began as a Feast in Lieja (Belgium) in 1246, and extended to the whole Western Church by Pope Urban IV in 1264, with the goal of proclaiming the faith in the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.

With the whole Church we recognize and appreciate the real presence of the body and blood of the Lord Jesus in the Sacrament of the Eucharist, and at the same time we also renew our awareness that all who are nourished by His life, with His Body and Blood, form one Body of Christ. For that reason the Eucharist is important to us: for by it we are certain that in this moment Jesus is with us, He speaks with us and teaches us, He gives us life and His love… and He strengthens us in our daily journey in life…and thus the Eucharist converts into food and is equivalent to our physical food, which serves to help us grow, keeping us healthy, strengthening us in our work, and so, our soul is nourished by the Eucharist, aiding grow in the love of God and our neighbor.

Remedy Against Bad Mood

When the prophet Elisha was in a bad mood he could not prophesize. He would call a musician who played beautiful melodies, and the music regained his composure. The same thing happened to King Saul. When he would get attacks of depression and anger, he would call David and he would take up his lyre and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better (1 Samuel 16: 14-23). Soft music calms the nerves and anger, and we should also use it for our well-being.

Did You Know?

You can help children know they are understood. As parents, educators and volunteers, we want children to know that we are not only authority figures in their lives, but also people they can trust. To foster authentic trust with children, it is important that they know that you understand them. One of the simplest ways to do this is by repeating back what children are telling you. When you do this, you are affirming to the child that they are heard and understood. For complete VIRTUS® Article and more communication tips email jvienna@la-archdiocese.org.

Prayer of the God Father

My son, who is on earth, worried, busy, disoriented. I know your name perfectly, and I pronounce it by sanctifying it because I love you. No, you’re not alone, for you are accompanied by me! And I want us to build together our Kingdom because you are my heir. I ask you to do my will, because my will is to bring you happiness through the path of good and truth. I care for you, do not worry about anything. Count on me for everything and you will have the daily bread. I ask that you be grateful with me and to be generous with your brothers. I forgive you of all your sins, because I know it hurts you to offend me and because I know that you would do same with those who would offend you. Take a stronghold of my hand so that you never fall into temptation, and I will deliver you from evil. I love you always and will love you for eternity. Your Father. God.
