The Works of the Lord are Admirable
Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
In the first year of his pontificate, Pope Francis wrote “The Joy of the Gospel”. It was an attempt to explain the great theme of his predecessors for our times. Pope St. Paul VI introduced “Evangelization” as the essence of the Church. Pope John Paul II spoke of the “New Evangelization, said it was new in His Ardo, its methods and its expression.” And, Pope Benedict proposed the striking idea of” reproposing “the Gospel. That is, to call home those who have stopped believing in the Church. Following these ideas, Pope Francis wrote that all the baptized should be considered as “missionary disciples.” We hear today in the Gospel his most developed teaching on Evangelization. The message will be of peace and joy because it deals with the love of God for the people. This love is not of dreams but of the charity and grace shown by the missionary disciples. What gives us such pleasure in being missionary disciples?
