Time to Give Thanks

“When we learn to read the story of Jesus and see it as the story of the love of God, doing for us what we could not do for ourselves—that insight produces, again and again, a sense of astonished gratitude which is very near the heart of human experience.” — N.T. Wright

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day is around the corner. It is time to give thanks; to be thankful for all the blessings we have received from God. I think we should do this every day and not only once a year because I believe that there is nothing that pleases more God than a thankful heart. So, instead of complaining because of the things we need or don’t have, let pause for a moment and count the blessings that we already have, that are already ours such as family, friends, food, shelter, health—Life! I would like to invite you that as you get together with family and friends to celebrate this Thanksgiving, think about those who are less fortunate and let us pray for them. If possible, let us take some time of our overly-schedule lives and share our blessings by feeding the hungry, visiting the sick or someone in prison and God will give us one of His most precious blessings: true joy and peace. Don’t let anxiety and materialism steal those gifts from you. As we also begin the season of Advent let us set our minds and hearts focus in Jesus the true reason for the season. All of us here at Mary Immaculate Parish wish you a Happy and blessed Thanksgiving for you and your loved ones. We will have a bilingual Thanksgiving Mass on Thursday November 24 at 10:00am. That will be the only mass we have for the day.
