Where Is Your Life Heading?

19th Sunday in Ordinary Time

“Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.”Ps. 34

Drowned in the glass of water of the here and now, many people live life this way, locked in the present, in the moment, without any perspective on where they want to go, let alone where God wants them to go, and they don’t even realize where they are heading; the worst part is that they don’t want to know, preferring to continue without transcendence, without asking uncomfortable questions or seeking the truth.

People live in the superficiality of feelings, without the perspective of transcendence, meaning, and purpose in life. We let the tree prevent us from seeing the forest that we should always keep in mind, that is eternity, the awareness of our identity, vocation, and mission. We are not here to wander, to distract ourselves, or to make money or kill time.

Life is brief and can only be truly lived if we fulfill the real purpose for which God gave it to us, that is, to know, love, and serve God and our neighbor, and thus save our soul. Without this perspective, we can do many things that are of no use to us, except to literally kill time, as it would mean continuing outside of Life, merely surviving.

Unfortunately, many have chosen the path of the devil, of rebellion and disobedience to God, living only for this world and deciding to leave God out of their lives; thus, they make their highest ideal on this earth to enjoy, that is, to satisfy their instincts like mere living beings, ignoring that they have an eternal soul and lowering themselves to the irrational and instinctive level of animality, which is also part of our life on earth.

All who do not know Jesus live in darkness (John 8,12) falling into idolatries, bowing and submitting as slaves to the god of money, addictions, pleasures, superstitions; the ego that wants to remain the king and always impose its will and whims.

It is very sad to see human beings falling so low, having the spring of living waters, yet seeking to drink from muddy puddles (Jer 2,12). Having the one true God who wants to give them eternal life, and preferring to remain in the temporality of animals, unwilling to know about transcendence or God or anything beyond the grave. They are thus subjected to a monstrous ego that establishes itself as their own god and lord, tyrant, even at the cost of losing the salvation that Christ came to offer us.

CHRIST IS THE BREAD OF LIFE; He is given to us so that by following Him we may have ETERNAL LIFE, FOREVER. DO NOT CLOSE THE DOOR TO GOD’S GIFT and receive it daily if possible; at the very least, He asks us to receive it on Sundays, the day of His Resurrection, for our temporal and eternal good.
