Did You Know? Bullying and disabilities A child with a disability, such as hearing loss, language impairment, learning disabilities, or physical disabilities, is often at increased risk for bullying. Children who struggle to understand social cues or control impulsive physical behaviors are also at increased risk, as bullies may see this behavior as aggressive, prompting an aggressive response. Children with learning disabilities are also sometimes easy targets for theft and vandalism. In schools, teachers and volunteers should be aware of these extra risks and watch for red flags.
